Theatre Studies - History of Modern Greek Theatre with emphasis on visual aspects
She was born in Athens and studied Theatre Studies at the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of Athens (BA - 1995, MA - 2000 as a scholarship holder of the State Scholarships Foundation). She holds a PhD from the same department with the dissertation “The Contribution of Spyros Vasileiou to Theatre and the Scenic Style of the Generation of the ’30s” (2008, supervisor: Angelos Delivorrias).
She worked on the formation of the archive of the painter Spyros Vasileiou and on the establishment and operation of the Atelier Spyros Vasileiou Museum, where she was responsible for educational programmes and curator of the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions (2003-2006, in collaboration with art historian Dr. Anny Malama). In 2011, at the Benaki Museum, Pireos Street building, she designed and curated the exhibition “Spyros Vasileiou and Theatre”.
In private non-formal education, she taught in adult theatre seminars (1999-2002) and was responsible for the children’s theatre workshop “Paramythoistories” (2000-2004).
She taught Theatre Education in public Primary and Secondary Education from 1997 to 2017 (permanent teacher PE91.01 since 2009).
She served for a five-year term at the Ralleia Experimental Primary Schools of Piraeus of the Department of Primary Education of the University of Athens (2012-2017), where she carried out numerous innovative actions and European programmes and was responsible for the Set Design – Directing Group.
She authored the new curriculum for the course “Theatre Studies” in the Artistic Junior High Schools (Government Gazette 166/vol. B΄/1-2-2016).
She writes the works in the “School Stage” series for Kapa Publishing.
In professional theatre she has worked as head of public relations and editor of theatre programmes. She has also worked as an editor of publications.
Her research interests focus on the history of modern Greek theatre with emphasis on questions of visuality, on the relationship between politics and spectacle, and on issues of theatre pedagogy in education and the community.
She is a member of the Research and Documentation Laboratory of Modern Greek Theatre of the Department of Theatre Studies, NKUA, of the Panhellenic Scientific Association of Theatre Scholars (Vice-President of the Board 1999-2003), of the Alumni Network of the Department of Theatre Studies, NKUA, and of the Panhellenic Pedagogical Association of Secondary Education.
