Michaela Antoniou was born in Piraeus and was raised in Athens and Theassaloniki.

She got her diploma at the National Theatre of Greece Drama School and her BA Degree at the Theatre Studies Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

She received a grant from IKY and completed her postgraduate studies at Goldsmiths, University of London:

ΜΑ – Performance and Culture - The Théâtre du Soleil: a community’s establishment of a new theatrical language

PhD – Acting Tragedy in Twentieth-Century Greece: The Case of Electra by Sophocles.

She taught the course Analytic Vocabularies at Goldsmiths, University of London (fall term - 2005-2006). From September 2011 to May 2013 she was a member of the research centre at the Sociology of Theatre and Performance Research Group at Goldsmiths, University of London, where she conducted a series of scientific research seminars on European acting and directing. The academic years 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 she was dispatched at the Theatre Studies Department at NKUA and collaborated in the graduate courses: Introduction to the History of Acting and Directing I and II, Introduction to Theatre Education I and II, A Company. Creating a Company I and II, and in the postgraduate courses: Performance Analysis and Translating Theories.

For the last twenty years, she is a member of the company Theatrical Stage, where she collaborates as an actress, dramaturg, assistant director and translator.

As an actress, she has worked with directors such as Spyros Evangelatos, George Michailidis, Antonis Antoniou et. al. She has worked on television, cinema, in dubbing and voice overs.

Her translation of David Storey’s Home was presented in 2007-2008.

Her play Untitled due to amnesia was stage in 2009-2010 by the company Anemi and the Municipal Theatre of Patras.

She has published two novels:

She has participated in conferences in Greece and abroad.
